Welcome to the homepage of the 2008 Plant Polysaccharide Workshop!

The 2008 Plant Polysaccharide Workshop, PPW2008, was held during August 3-5 at the Stora Brännbo Conference Centre and Hotel in historic Sigtuna, Sweden.

PPW2008 was co-organised by Vincent Bulone and Harry Brumer as a satellite meeting of the 24th International Carbohydrate Symposium held in Oslo, Norway, 27 July - 1 August 2008.

We would like to thank all of the participants of the Workshop for creating a very stimulating atmosphere focussed on the latest exciting scientific developments in the field.

Now that the PPW2008 has ended, these WWW pages will no longer be updated. We will, however, keep the pages online for historical and archival purposes. (Please note that most verbs should now be read in the past tense.)

You may browse a few photos from the workshop by following this link. (All photos by Farid Ibatullin, KTH.)

The International Carbohydrate Symposium (ICS) has a long history in the dissemination of cutting-edge results in the field of carbohydrate chemistry, dating back to 1960. Organised bi-annually by the International Carbohydrate Organisation, the ICS covers a broad range of research topics in carbohydrate chemistry and glycobiology. The Plant Polysaccharide Workshop was established in 1980 as a satellite meeting to provide a more focussed environment for the discussion of the latest advances in this rapidly evolving research area.

Recent Plant Polysaccharide Workshops have been held in Canada (Univ. Manitoba, 2006), the U.K. (Univ. York, 2004), Australia (Palm Cove, 2002), and the Netherlands (Wageningen, 2000). For a complete list of previous Workshops, please see the history page.
