The ProNova VINN Excellence Centre for Protein Technology is a research centre initiated in 2007 by VINNOVA, to promote close collaboration between industry and academia.
The ProNova Centre is hosted by the School of Biotechnology at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and it is located in the AlbaNova University Centre in Stockholm. In addition to the academic research groups at KTH, eleven companies in the life science sector are currently industrial partners of the ProNova Centre.
The vision of the ProNova Centre is to become one of the leading academic Centres in the world for multi-disciplinary research in protein technology, including relevant technology-driven research in protein engineering, bioimaging, microfluidics and bioinformatics. The research activities include technology development as well as the use of the Centre platforms to address different biological questions and needs expressed by the partner companies.
The ProNova Centre is working in close collaboration with the Swedish Human Protein Atlas (HPA) program. With access to the world’s largest set of antibodies, the Centre is developing new methods and technologies for applications in bioscience and biomedicine. Since the spring of 2010, parts of the ProNova research activities are located to the Science for Life Laboratory, which is a new center dedicated to high throughput molecular bioscience.
